Help Barbie become a great fashion model! This is an arcade game with many different activities to participate in.In each level, Barbie starts by going left to right with forced scrolling. She has a default speed and can speed up as well. She must avoid moving obstacles by moving up and down and controlling her speed. If she hits one, she loses a chance and it's game over if she runs out of chances. She must pick up items which grant point bonuses and extra chances.There is also a camera item to pick up which brings you to a magazine cover shoot. You are shown a cover with barbie wearing an outfit which is themed to the level. You must then go to her dressing room and dress her in a matching outfit. You are also given separate control of the colors of three different components and must match these. You are awarded points for each correct match.When you reach the right side of the level, you are given a runway practice. This consists of four positions on the runway floor labeled to tell you which button you must press at each one.Barbie then goes back through the level right-to-left. On the return trip, there is a handbag to pick up. This brings you to another magazine cover. You then go to a makeup mirror where you must match Barbie's hairstyle, earrings, eyeshadow and lip and nail color to the cover. Again, you are awarded points for each item which you get correct.When you reach the left side of the level, you must then do Barbie's runway walk that you were given earlier. You are awarded points for each station at which you perform the correct move.Barbie then continues to the next level. There are a total of four: Barbie driving down the street, skating on the beach, walking through a ski resort and walking through the park.
Now then... I know what you all are thinking. I thought it myself, when I located this game. A BARBIE GAME??? There's no way in hell that this can be any good, but I'm gonna download it just to get a good laugh!!
Well, the joke was on me. Barbie: Super Model is actually a really nice game, starring our well-known glamour toy, Barbie. It's not a great game, but it does cater to the more experimental gamer - or simply a Barbie fan.
In the game, you play the role of Barbie - who is trying to make a name for herself as a model in Hollywood. Working as hard as she can to achieve her goal, she'll nevertheless need your help to overcome all the obstacles in her path. You need to help her get noticed on the streets of Hollywood, put on her make up and fix her hair, go through her wardrobe, keep her fit by exercising, and most importantly... you need to train her for the catwalk, and then help her when the big day has arrived. Do it properly, and Barbie might just be the next big thing in Hollywood.
The game is divided into four parts, each ending in a fashion show in front of thousands of people. All of these parts consist of an arcade bit, a face shooting and a magazine shooting, catwalk training, and then the real catwalk in the end. The different arcade mission is a drive through Hollywood Blwd, a rollerblading safari at the beach, a walk through an icy mountain town, and a bike tour through the park. In all of these, the mission is to try to collect as many stars as possible, and to try to get the makeup bag and the photo camera, without hitting any obstacles. (Kinda like Paperboy).
Barbie's two minigames, the face and magazine shooting, are both played in the same fashion. First you will see a picture of Barbie for a couple of seconds. You then have to make her look identical to that image, using only your memory as guide. To do so, you toggle the colours by using either Ctrl, Alt or Shift, and completely change the outfit or makeup by using the cursor keys. When you are satisfied with the way she looks, you simply press Enter. You will get points for each correct aspect of her appearance.
The music for the game is quite catching, and definitely fitting to the gameplay. It's really a neat little game, all in all. Definitely aimed at young girls, but still good fun to any gamer.
This game CAN run under Win XP and VDMSound, but I would only recommend doing this if you want to go deaf... The sounds are turned into ear-shattering fire-sirens, if you try to do that. Don't tell me I didn't warn you, if you do try... ;P
Well, as a guy i'm not sure what to say...I heard there are some smaller games in this game. Dress up dolls, and drive with barbie's car?!
Some may be disguisted by the mere existance of this game, but someone's gotta think about little girls' software! That's exactly what this game is, a kiddie product featuring the world's best known doll.
The game features a few small games in it in which a player has to dress Barbie, drive her car around, attend fashion shows and such... If you are 3 years old + a female you'll love this!
One of the very first games designed for young girls, Barbie Super Model is a fun game starring the world's most recognizable doll. The objective is simple: help Barbie become the world's best model. The game is essentially a collection of action games, none of which is particularly innovative, but all appealing to young girls.
There are two main action sequenes: getting Barbie from her house to various places in a car, and helping her post on a catwalk. When Barbie is on the road, the sequence is strikingly similar to Disney's earlier Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, including familiar roadblocks, other cars, and other obstacles. When Barbie gets to the studio, your job is to help her perform on a catwalk. This is a simple memory game: in Barbie's dressing room, you will first be shown a sequence of where she should walk on a real catwalk. You can practice for as long as you want to memorize the sequence, then it's time to choose a dress for Barbie and face the spotlights.
The game is definitely not groundbreaking, although it does an admirable job of keeping girls interested. Hi-Tech Expressions could definitely have leveraged the brand a lot more (e.g. including Barbie's actual doll apparel in her wardrobe), but as it stands, it's not bad. Girls will likely enjoy the "side" features, e.g. choosing clothes for Barbie, more than the actual game.
