Sensible World of Soccer is an enhanced version of Sensible Soccer. Virtually every important soccer league in the world is included in this game, with some countries not only having premier / first division, but 2nd, 3rd, and more divisions. All important international competitions are also included (club- and national-team based). The game has a career mode, where you may play up to 20 seasons as player manager or manager only. During a career as a coach you're not tied to one club / national team, meaning if you're good enough one (or more) big clubs make offers to you to coach their team.
All teams featured in this game have real players (names, strengths, weaknesses, etc.) from the 1995 season. The management part of the game allows you to buy any of these players (which number 24,000 in total) if you have enough money and a free slot in your team. Besides the player manger career, you may play friendly matches, single season of any competition, and custom competitions, which can be made from scratch or based on a real one. Teams participating in these competitions can be chosen from any country. All the teams may be played by human player or computer.
Before I start talking about this game I would like to tell you that I really love it. When it was launched I spent many sleepless nights only to play this game alone or with some friends, because it is a very cool game, easy to play, with many teams to choose from all over the world. And the best thing is that you can be either player or coach of your favorite team! Sounds good enough? Try it! That is all I can say.
Sensible World of Soccer was made in 1995 by a company called Sensible Software, and this was the second in the series of soccer games. Games in that series are even produced nowadays. This game was one of the first that gave you an opportunity to play or manage your team in the same game, so this is an update with many management options that open a lot of new perspectives, but in a very easy way to learn it.
If you want to play with your favorite team that really existed at that time, you can edit the real players' names, the real name of the team, and choose appropriate tactics. You have more than 1000 teams at disposal. Can you imagine that?!
This game gives you a chance to play with a league team or with a national team. You can also save the best goals your players scored and see the highlights of their actions.
Let us begin. First you can choose to play either 3 minutes or more. You can play on pitch type (it is very hard to play at the frozen field), and you can decide to put all teams at the same difficulty level or make different conditions for them.
You can try to buy the best players on the world, but to do that, you need money, which is very hard to earn; you need to play against strong teams to attract more visitors to your stadium or you can try to play all competitions to receive a good prize at the end. You can also play using a tactic that exists in the game or create a new one. Even today when I play Sensible World of Soccer I select the option to play an entire career as player manager. The career goes to the maximum of 20 years and every season is different!
After all what I said, it is your turn to play. And I promise you, after you finish some games you will play it more and more because it has very good gameplay! I can claim that this was the best game at the time it was made. You can rest assured that Sensible World of Soccer is the greatest soccer game ever made. Consequently, it has been released to every platform available.
I give it a rating of 5 stars.
This game needs DOSBox to run.
This is probably the best soccer game ever made (with all respects to FIFA series by Electronic Arts). Play as almost any team in the world or try yourself as a manager in career mode. The game is pretty simple - control the player with arrow keys and shoot/pass with ENTER, that's all. But...the game ain't easy, trust me. Sometimes You'll lose a game to an inferior team and sometimes You might even beat much stronger one. That's what makes the game even more interesting. Career mode is superb. Start in any club, be the best You can and You might move to stronger and better (and richer) team. Buy players, play in Euro cups... The best one ever made!
This 95/96 version is an update of the classic Sensible Soccer action-oriented soccer game, this version sports sharper graphics, updated teams information, and more weather conditions you can choose from. As in the original, SWOS delivers a furious action on the pitch, with intuitive controls of tiny players that allow curve balls and bicycle kicks. Choose from a staggering number of league and national teams to compete in major tournaments. Highly recommended! And if you love the game, be sure to check out SWOS 96/97, the best game in the series -- also on this site, of course ;)
The best Soccer-Sim I EVER encountered! Hundreds of teams - national- and league-play, all the true players of the 95/96 season. It's all there! Plus the ingenious gameplay of Sensible Soccer (they seem to have improved it, though I can't tell what EXACT it is they've done). New in this version are the extended possiblities you have as a coach - including buying new players with different skills and so on. If you're looking for a soccer-sim: your search is over - you'll find no better! Get it!
Rated as one of the best soccer games in the first half of the 90's. In Sensible World Of Soccer you can play both as a manager and a player. You can choose to play in almost every leaague including the biggest European leagues, Brazilian league and many more. The match mode is almost the same from the games before all though it's a bit tougher to win the matches, which only makes it more realistic.
The graphics in the matches are great and overall the game includes a great interface with a lot of different options like player transfers, player stats and much more. So if you like both manager and footbal games this might just be THE game for you.
