Amamiya Private School is a very mysterious place. The huge gate and concrete walls keep the school out of contact from outsiders and police alike. Being an all-girl school there are no guys allowed in. Recently there were reports of disappearing girls. So a JES (Japanese Education Society) agent was dispatched to investigate. Her name was Megumi Sasaki she worked undercover as a biology teacher. She has hastily resigned for no known reason. Yuichi Sakuma, another JES agent, has been sent to the school to replace Megumi and investigate her resignation. As Yuichi, you must make the right decisions to solve the mystery.
The graphics of Love Potion are quite nice looking. They remind me of Paradise Heights 2 and Immoral Study 2's graphics. In the top menu you can pick two options, full screen and non-full screen. Basically full screen stretches the whole viewable area to fit your monitor and non-full screen allows the viewable area to fit your set resolution. One thing I found about LP, that I haven't seen anywhere else was the placement of characters. Usually people you talk to are either standing directly in front of you or are in a different position for the sex scenes. In LP however, I saw a girl get resized to show her looking for something in the background. This is an element I haven't seen in an h-game before. (If you don't know WTF I'm talking about, just play the game for a while and you will get to that scene.) Plus, there is NO censoring of images.
The music of LP is fair to overly-used. It might just be my crappy speakers but the music of LP doesn't seem to match the quality of great ones like Time Striper Mako. It's not that the music sucks, it just sounds ordinary and not new or fresh.
The story of LP is exceptional. Its attempt to be a horror h-game is pulled off perfectly. As long as you can get over fact that sometimes the story is pretty slow, then you can enjoy the high points of the story. (and there are a LOT of high points) Other than that it's up to you to play the game and discover it's lush narrative.
The gameplay of LP is done normally, click the mouse or press the keyboard to progress to the next scene. There are, however, some parts of the gameplay that are nicely done. The top menu is a good example of the great gameplay, and it is my favorite feature of LP. The top menu is a normal Windows based menu. But it allows you to save or load AT ANY TIME. Meaning if you're at a signifgant point in the game and want to be sure to make the right choice of words, you can save before hand. And if you screwed up something, you can load without waiting for a choice point.
Overall LP is a great choice for pretty much anyone. The sex scenes aren't TOO hard-core and the story line should be enjoyable to anyone that likes a good h-game thriller.
