Like earlier releases in the series, Kid Pix Deluxe 3 is designed to offer children a virtual art studio for play and experimentation. Kids can create their own artwork from scratch, manipulate scanned family photographs and other digital images, or play around with any of the many pictures included in the software's "Photo Library." Unique brushes and other tools encourage children to explore and experiment. Using a compatible microphone, sounds and songs are graphically represented on the screen. Images may be stretched, shrunk, or squished. Areas can be painted or filled with a wide variety of different colors textures, and patterns. Finished works of art may be easily printed or e-mailed to friends.
