Players must save young Assil from the wrath of the gods in this point-and-click adventure. A typical rambunctious teenager, Assil steals the Great Pyramid key to throw a party for friends. Much to his dismay, Assil stumbles during the shindig and breaks a holy urn, earning him a death curse and only a few hours to get rid of it. Fortunately, he finds a magic Ankh, and is transported to a mysterious world where his dream girl is waiting to help him through the many puzzles, riddles, and enemies that stand between him and forgiveness. There are over 100 items to use, and dozens of locations set around ancient Cairo to explore.

After a wild party at Pharaoh's pyramid, young Assil accidentally dumps holy urns and gets himself a death curse - there he also discovers the precious amulet Ankh.

Only Pharaoh can save Assil - however not only is it impossible to get an audition, but Assil also has another problem: Osiris, God of the Underworld, is after the Ankh.

If you want to download this game because you love Egypt and you want to learn more about Egyptian history, don't do it. You won't be buried under tons of historical facts with the purpose of extending the gameplay. Egypt is only the setting and background of this funny and refreshing game. The opening and ending sequences alone are worth watching. The main character "Assil" is a clown; his gestures and dialogue are very entertaining. The graphics are fabulous and very detailed. Several locations are available for exploration and they are all very well done and beautiful (I liked a lot the part under water and the terrorist camp area.) In the funny and entertaining cut scenes, you get the impression of watching a good animated movie.

The story is really well written. You are able to link the different parts of the game together. Voices, sounds and music were very well chosen. It helps with building the game atmosphere and sometimes if you close your eyes, you have the impression of being there with Assil. Most of the dialogues are hilarious (I didn't skip any of them in the game). The only negative thing I want so say right now is that the dialogues of some of the characters should have had a lot more detail. Each dialogue, stuff to read and every object could have some importance later in the game. Clues will be found along your journey. Those clues will help you with puzzles or will tell you what to do next.

The puzzles aren't very hard. Most of them are inventory based and most of them are integrated into the story. The hardest one was summoning Osiris and this puzzle is done with two playable characters. There's a timed sequence puzzle, but after a few tries, I'm sure anyone will be able to do it because the puzzle is logical. In the game you will be able to play a game of hide and seek and there's a funny chase at one point. In the castle you will play the game with two characters and you will depend on each of them to finish the tasks ahead of you.

The final 10 minutes of the game where you're in Osiris' world is very touching and interesting. I was sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for what would happen next.

On a final note: Ankh is a wonderful, refreshing and funny game.
